Connecting Mac OS X to Appalachian State University's WPA Secure Wireless Network
 
 
Step 1.
Turn on the Airport Wireless Card (Airport = Name of the Wireless Card and Connection Application)

Turn On Airport
Note:
If the icon pictured to the right side does not appear in your menu bar, please click here and follow these instructions before preceding to Step 2.

 

 

Step 2.
Click on the "Signal Strength Icon" on the menu bar. Once the drop down list appears, select "Other" from the list.

Step 3.
in the dialog box titled "Closed Network" , complete the text boxes with the following information

Closed Network Note:
Click the drop down list "Wireless Security" and select WPA Enterprise for the setting fields to load.

WPA Settings

Setting Information:

Network Name: asu

Wireless Security : WPA Enterprise

Username: asu

Password: asu

802.1X Configuration: Automatic

Click Ok

     
Step 4.
Certificate Authentication, Follow the Setting Information to allow the proper certificate to be authorized on your computer.

Certificate Options Select "Show Certificate"

Certificate Settings

Settings Information:

1. Check the
"Always trust these certificates" Check Box

2. Click the Arrow for "Trust Settings"

3. Select "Always Trust" from the drop down list for "When using this certificate."

4. Click Continue

Note:
Setting Step 3, will automatically set the other two (2) options to Always Trust.

     
Congratulations, You have now set up your wireless connection to Appalachian State University's WPA Wireless System.
