The Political Science/Criminal Justice Department and the International Relations Association of Appalachian State University are sponsoring Model United Nations Conference on the Appalachian State University campus.  This program is a way of getting students involved in and aware of the various international events that are affecting the interests and well-being of the United States and the world as we move into the new millennium.

REGISTRATION & LODGING
A non-refundable registration fee of $25.00 for the first delegation and $10 for each additional delegation is required with the return of the attached application form (if paying by check, make it payable to International Relations Association).   There also is a fee of $10.00 per delegate to help defray the expenses of the conference that will be paid at registration on the day of the conference.  First choice for delegation assignments will most likely go to those whose applications are received by September 14, 2007, although late applications will be accepted until October 31, 2007.   When applications are received, country assignments and information about local hotels will be sent.

PREPARATION
Teachers will be aided by having most of the basic material needed by students provided by ASU.  Packets of information on conference organization, general issue summarizes, and rules of procedures will be sent out if the high school requests these materials to be sent.  This information will also be available by September 21st via the International Relations Association’s web page (http://www.ira.appstate.edu), with additional information (such as countries available and schools that are participating)

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our email address is ira@appstate.edu
